The Books on Indian Music for English-Speaking Singers

These books are the first of their kind and first of the series of the books on Indian classical music as well as Rabindranath Tagore's over 2500 songs. The first one may be considered as a self-completed textbook of Indian classical music or an introductory and preparatory book for Rabindra-Sangeet (songs of Rabindranath Tagore). The second one in this series contains the notations of the songs from "Gitanjali" (offerings of songs), the Nobel prize winning book of Rabindranath Tagore. The third book is one of the poet's symbolic dramas, in which one play is nested in another one.

These books would be welcomed by the various sections of the society. The people who do not have any background of Indian culture, yet are academically curious in it, will find these books interesting and instructive. They may include different universities throughout the United States and abroad which have their departments of Asian/Oriental Studies. Since Indian music was greatly influenced by West Asian music during the period of five hundred years of Muslim rule in India, the first book could be found useful for transforming West Asian music also. Secondly, the people with origin in the Indian subcontinent, who are aware of the richness of Indian music and are most eager to pass this treasured heritage to the next generation, will find them extremely helpful for this purpose.

The covers are designed and drawn by the author according to the theme of the respective book.
