OK, now for the bad stuff. I had begun to notice that the computer was making a lot of noise...to be accurate, fan noise. Similar to a McDonnell-Douglass F4-D Phantom II Fighter Jet idling on the ramp!! Guess that's because it has 6 fans in it! I did mention that this case is a server case, didn't I? Well, maybe you don't need 6 fans in your case-oops, forgot the big fan on the Zahlman heatsink for the processor!
The other bad thing....I purchased Roxio's EZ CD Creator 6 Platinum for burning. It should be a crime to sell such defective software!! This stuff just won't work at all, despite what others said. You should go to a manufacturer's website and read the forums first before you buy!! I wish I had done so before I dropped $100.00 USD for a useless piece of S**T!!! I tried everything to get the program to work only to read that Roxio is aware that it doesn't work and apparently do not care, either.
I eventually conseded by using the Veritas Software that came with the Sony DVD burner. It works good enough for what I want to do with it. I still use CD Stomper Pro for the Cd labels, another fine program even if the labels are a litle high compared to others.
So here's the specs:
P4 @ 2.66ghz, 1Gb of PC333ram, 2 Maxtor 160Gb Hdds and the afore mentioned components. It runs Win98SE and Redhat 9 Linux using Grub to dual boot. I am happy with the results and look forward to building Dana's new 'puter later this spring.
Until next time, Safe surfing, Good backups and send in your suggestions, please!
