Contrary to popular belief, Antarctica is not covered in snow, but mostly of ice. The ice is hard and slippery and comes in more shades of blue than most people would think possible. Travel across the ice requires crampons, iceaxes, ice screws, and lots of concentration. The ice is also very thick, and presents considerable hazards to travel when it cracks into crevasses, or calves and falls near ice cliffs.
This site is designed to be viewed at a minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768. If your computer can't handle this, it is time to get a new computer!
