There are numerous mountain ranges jutting up through the ice plateau near Mawson, and they are all spectacularly steep and very tall. These photos of me were taken whilst doing a navigation exercise between the North Massons and the David Range out on the ice plateau. We were on the quads and used hand held GPS and the cane and drum lines to navigate our way along the safe route south to the David Range.
