HOMEYOGAHEALTHWORDS OF WISDOM

HEALTH
Healing

By Raymond Ribeiro
The common definition of a healthy individual is described- by many- as a person who is sound and balanced- mentally, physically and spiritaully. Although many in society will support the above definition- in theory- in practice, it is undeinable that there are just as many who hold conflicting views on how to reach the above definition.

Of course, factors such as, a an individual's religion, way of thinking (out-look on life ) all weigh on what constitutes a "healthy individual". With the popularity of yoga and many other keep- fit routines from the Eastern world, generally, it seems that( such ) alternative health care practices are not considered by many formal health professionals as a "taboo"- as they once were.

Particularly in the western world, we now see many "organizations of health" - within and outside of formal health institutions incorporating many "eastern programs" in their health care disciplines. There is a universal law that tells us that illness or illness behavior by an individual occurs because there is an imbalance of energy. At best, we can say that any form off illness by an individual is already created from within. In other words, at a soul level, our higher power may create an illness for us because the illness by itself will cause us the (individual) to go through certain life experiences which they would not normally face- if they never had that particular illness.

Therefore, at many levels we find that a change of consciousness is essentially what really determines "growth" and at that level, many find that their "illness symptoms tend to gradually disappear. However, for some, the initial reaction to any "ill health" is to reach for solutions outside of themselves. In other words, they seem to feel that the only form of cure available to them is by reaching out for "quick fix" solutions, rather than focusing within, to ascertain what the causes might be, from a metaphysical point.

Of course, although (this may sound very generalized ) in a way, many times illnesses return because the underlining problem- the real causes- were never "treated", as a result they very often return- or affect other areas of the physical body.

The essence of what I am trying to say is that as human beings, all aspects of our lives are very connected- in terms of mental, physical and spiritual selves, ( therefore any imbalance in one of these 3 areas affects the others in various ways) As a result, any form of healing should not be focused on treating the symptoms of the individual alone, but to also help the individual to understand the state of mind which brought it (the illness). In other words, the whole individual should be treated.
