The development of the Internet has led to a technological explosion few could have predicted. As with many other large-scale technological advances, the new capabilities provided by the Internet have been used to circumvent existing laws and social practices. Copyright violations as a result of the popularity of the Internet continue to grow in number and some professionals believe that as long as music remains an important part of society, people will try and get songs and albums for nothing, regardless of any legal concerns (Long). Despite the large amount of media attention paid to copyright issues, there are other important issues that have stemmed from the widespread use of the Internet.
