I was raised a Metaphysical Christian. That term may seem contradictory to some, so let's look at the definitions. The American Heritage dictionary defines Christian as : professing to believe in Christianity. Christianity is defined as: religion founded on the teachings of Jesus. American Heritage defines metaphysics as: the branch of philosophy that examines the nature of reality and the relationship between mind and matter. Spirituality is simply defined as "the state, quality, manner, or fact of being spiritual."
According to Yvette De Luca, in her article titled, "What is Metaphysical Christianity," she states, Metaphysics is a study of truth. It is looking beyond the superficial, seeing what is really there and not just accepting things at face value. Metaphysical Christianity is a belief system, founded on the teachings of Jesus, which looks at how He perceived reality. It also examines the relationship between mind and matter, which is God. A Metaphysical Christian studies not only what Jesus taught in words, but also how He taught in actions. We study the imagery and metaphor used in the Bible and strive to understand the deepest meaning. It means asking Why, and How our world works the way it does. It means understanding everyday things on a deeper level.
From age nine Jesus has been my Wayshower; since then, I've discovered that he wasn't the only Master Teacher. He was a powerful healer who taught that faith, love, and, forgiveness were the keys to healing on all levels...but there is so much more to learn about Him. Jesus and the other Masters, such as Buddha, are (because there is no time or gender in Spirit) God's Ideal wo/man. Although their recorded words were in their language of the current time and culture, we can still learn from them today. However, what sets Jesus apart is, the man Jesus knew the Truth about Himself and each of us. That God's perfect idea of man can be brought forth. It is called Jehovah in the Old Testament and Christ in the New Testament. The second in the Trinity, and is also called the Word, the Son, the Logos, the anointed One, and the I AM. It's a simple yet complex concept and I suggest reading the works of Charles Fillmore for a much better explanation than I can give at this time in my own unfoldment.
In my studies I have found the most profound author on the subject to be Charles Fillmore, founder of Unity. For a listing of his online books,
