Ray Allen was born on July 20, 1975, in Merced
California. He is 6 feet 5 inches tall, and is 205 pounds. His real
name is Walter Ray Allen. He is most known as Ray Allen. He was
first interested in playing basketball at the early age of ten. He
played for Hillcrest in high school. He did well all three years
with Hillcrest, he really did well his senior year earning a 27-4
record and the State Championship. His junior year he was averaging
25.5 points and 11.5 rebounds a game. In his senior year he averaged
28.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 5.3 assist per game. He was named to
the "Super 25" by USA Today and was named All-Star MVP 3 times.
RAY'S COLLEGE YEARS
Ray Allen was picked by the University of Connecticut to play there
as a point guard (PG). He did a great job as a poin t
guard earning the All-American status his sophomore year which is a
huge honor for any future NBA star. He also had many other honors to
come in his junior year he was in the top ten running for the
Naismith Player of the Year Award. Which is one of the best honors.
His Junior year he was the leading contender for the Collegiate
Player of the Year Award also. He was the only UConn player, in
UConn history to every score over the 1,000 point mark, in his
sophomore year. He was the leading scorer for the Huskies and was
nailing three pointers from all over. He 118 of his 273 attempted
shots. In college as a junior he was on fire. In the University
games in 1995 he lead his huskies to the gold medal against Japan
who did not put up an easy fight. His team and himself had been
rocking the world with their undeafted record of 7-0. He was
shooting 61.6% from the field and finished with a 15.6 scoring
average for the United States. He decided after his great
performance for the Huskies that he would enter the 1996 NBA draft.
