Walter Ray
Allen was born July 20, 1975. His jumper has improved significantly
since then. Ray was the first player in the University of
Connecticut men's basketball history to be named All-American status
as only a sophomore. Ray was a contender in the nation's top ten pre
season Naismith National Player of the year. He was the first player
to pass the 1000 point at the University of Connecticut (UConn) as a
sophomore. Ray Allen helped lead the US to the gold medal at the
World University Games in 1995.Many memorable Ray Allen moments, but
most fans probably would place the awkward game-winner against
Georgetown in the 1996 Black Entertainment Television (BET) title
game at the top of the list. Following in second in Ray’s greatest
moments, is the thirteen longest seconds in the University of
Connecticut (UConn) history. Remember that Ricky and Kirk combined
for 20 of UConn's last 22 points in that game. UC trailed by 11 with
5.5 minutes to go when Travis fouled out. Georgetown didn't score
again. Ray loves the game of basketball. But he knows there is more
to life than slam dunks and no-look passes. That's what makes Ray
different. There's nothing more important to Ray than his daughter,
Tierra. Her future means the world to him. Flora Allen is Ray's
advisor, confidante, and friend. She's also Ray's mother and his
moral compass in life. The Ray of Hope Foundation, managed by Flora
Allen, represents Ray's commitment to the young people and the
well-being of the community. Through the Ray Allen Enterprises, Ray
has entered into a number of endorsement agreements, including Nike
and Schick. He also has contracts with Ambassador Limousine,
Scoreboard, Genuine Article and Fleet/Skybox. Other entrepreneurial
ventures include Slamma Jamma/Ray Allen Scoring Camps planned
throughout Connecticut. Catch Ray in his first movie role
co-starring with Denzel Washington in Spike Lee's new hit film, He
Got Game. Ray is 6th on the 50 greatest players from the east. Ahead
of 10th place Allen Iverson. Ray Allen. |
