This is meant to be "The Place" to view the "kouyou" or autumn foliage in Miyagi Prefecture. However, in my humble opinion, I think Hanayama's "kouyou" beats Naruko's hands down. Of course, this could be due to my bias for places away from the hordes of "kouyou hunters" who flock to the area in autumn. However, if you don't have a car, Naruko is much easier to get to because it has a train station. The trailhead for Naruko Gorge is only a kilometre or two from the train station.
