I bought my GLHS on August 20th, 2000 from the original owner. I had wanted one of these cars for quite a while after I learned what they were all about, and that I enjoy being different, too different sometimes. I would've very easily settled for a regular GLH-T since that's what I was looking for, but when a GLHS comes by you just can't shake a stick at it. Who would've thought that there would be one just a few miles from my home in Nebraska? I saw her sitting at a repair shop one night on my way home from work. I just had to turn around since I thought I had read GLHS on the rear pillar. Sure enough, there was number 420 (out of 500) looking kinda ragged. The owner of the shop came out while I was looking at it (suprised the hell out of me since it was after midnight) and offered to put me in touch with the owner who worked at the shop also. After a bunch of contemplation and waiting for Randy to fix her up a bit (new carpet, armrest, weld K-frame and a few other odds & ends) she was mine. Randy was sad to see her go that rainy day, but he had just recently inherited/bought his brother-in-law's '87 GLHS so he shant go without a Shelby. My Shelby was originally sold at Ken Morehead Dodge of Omaha, NE. She's got in the neighborhood of 130,xxx miles on her. The odometer broke sometime and the thousands digit would roll with ever few miles traveled. That's solved now, but the thousands is still off, it reads the bottom half of one number and the top half of the other with 96/7,xxx miles on the odometer. It's been a pretty good car so far after getting new tires and strut mounts put on. I do enjoy the gas mileage I get, 21/26. Much better than my Buick's 7/15 (on good days) with killer acceleration to boot! Some people ask why I enjoy driving a little car like this. Other than the fact that I really enjoy being just a bit different, I love owning a little piece of automotive history. It only takes one trip into some good boost to let the doubters figure it out for themselves. It's even better if there's a 'Stang next to us that gets to take Turbo Dodge 101. If you've got a turbo Mopar you know what I'm talkin' about. :o)
