| The HI tower is a fine example of HI engineering - using the latest technologies this tower the size of a small city in diameter ((and has twin cities in it, one for the martian colonists and the other which is a permanent HI-orientated city but is mostly used for stopovers by the crews of the docked space vessels)) reaches into the heavens and off planet, the top serving as a space docking platform for the GE and other HI friendly ships, with an especially large bay for the SDF-1. The space tower also has a massive lift running down the side of it capable of carrying 17 Titan class ms and pilots at a time as well as numerous other units, thus allowing total ship overhauls to be carried out with ease and speed, the trip up to the top taking as little as 45mins Inside the tower are 10 extremely large (25 floors each) ms research laboratories and an office complex that serves as a backdrop to the colonists city located within the HI tower. It is also well connected with 5 large shuttle hangars , 1 every 150 floors up, each capable of handling multiple shuttles with ease while the lifts inside the tower ferry the shuttles to and from the hangars. There is also a tower-wide monorail system that winds it way thoughout the building, while small passenger-pod equipped non-combat ms's perform the daily tasks of being ferries for cargo and civillians - All priority HI staff have been given decommissioned mobile dolls equipped to carry 5 passengers, the md controlled via the selection of a pre-programmed location - this is the only method of access to some HI facilities due to the inhospitable environments so each md needs a swipecard to be swiped in, these swipecards programmed with the locations of the facilities There is also 2 mega-sized shuttle bays for usage by core fighters and martian prospectors. The M-shuttle bays each have provision and repair facilites for 60 core fighters, although there is usually only 20 in service, generally the space taken up by ms's in their waverider configurations Dotted thoughout the tower are ms launch ramps for rapid deployment, most of them occurring beyond floor 500 for reasons noted later - although on the lower levels there are a few massive 6-suit launchers for rapid deployment in an emergency Also within the building is an ms training school for HI's personal use. The first 200 floors are Hydroponics and the Colonists/miners city as well as many minor HI subsiduaries HQs and offices (not to mention labs). Further up (about the 350th floor to the 510th) Hawke and other HI staff have offices in the penthouse of the tower as well as more practical offices near the labs and factory ((Btw, Hawke's penthouse office is a floor by itself!)). Within the tower is a self-contained intranet available all over the tower - this allows HI staff to keep abreast of situations constantly. Also via the laser communications link, the intranet also connects to the intranets of the colonies and with the earth internet for total geopolitical coverage Protecting the HI tower are numerous inverse and normal beam barriers which, while 'trapping' everyone inside the city, means that outside conditions cannot cause major harm - although there are numerous airlocks and the central computer in the HI tower can, and does have the ability to close sections off if something did happen Also built into tower is a super-microwave transmitter for the TFS system, enabling its use in deep space - the multiple M/ARA reactors in the HI tower taking care of the need for solar power with ease . Also dotted within the tower are further parks and hydroponics bays for oxygen renewal while water is provided by the underground tapping of frozen martian water For further security, the tower is protected by numerous small arms, a few large arms (M-paricle cannons, DOMPs, plasma cannons) and a dedicated force of 40 ms with numerous mds for backup, all armed with HI tech equipment. If an attack does happen Gundamium sheaths - 12 foot thick plates - rise up to cover the lower 500 floors from breach Also at the 950th floor there is a break off mechanism which will release the HI spacedock from the tower, ensuring that the survivors do not back themselves into a corner. Also of note is there is a self-destruct built into the tower that will detonate the reactors under the tower, annihilating the tower and the enemy Of course, all the accomodations are luxurious and the HI tower is equipped with most forms of communication including the laser based varients, the laser forming a powerful anti-spaceship tool (range is about past Mars' gravitational pull) The HI tower also has a massive manufacturing complex underneath it that can manufacture just about anything and under the HI tower mining can take place for the ores needed in manufacture. Due to the mining monetarily the cost of the HI tower would be recouped in weeks and, due to the ease of getting rarer materials here, more profit is made and put into HI's coffers The construction of the tower is easy - the SDF-1 and GE can probably port all needed materials in three trips and then construction would begin - the fact HI is porting/mining the materials themselves lowers the cost considerably. It could be more if the base of the tower was pre-built on the SDF-1 and then deployed onto the planet. Then all it is but a simple matter of building up, the GE having been used as a tug boat to pull the spacedock section from the shipyard of the SDF-1 to the tower, the tower in plug-together modules. The HI tower was recently completed and is now oficially the home of Hawke industries |
