November 30, 2000. Wild Brisbane update.. Major Hitz news.. less than a week to vote..
|
Wild Brisbane Update:
Still nothing coming out of your speakers? Here's the deal..
Many of you would be aware that WILD Brisbane has experienced a
few problems that have prevented the station from going to air.
Thankfully we've got good news to report. WILD Brisbane looks set
to start broadcasting sometime before December 6th. (yippee!)
The station was ready to go to air last Monday but we were unable
to get approval from the ABA to broadcast from our new transmitter site.
The ABA has told WILD that approval for the new site should be
ready by this Wednesday (December 6th). Approval might be
earlier depending on the workload at the ABA.
We'll give you an update on this as soon as we can.
Hitz FM News:
Unfortunately, the official Hitz site is still asleep.
(It says that they're "on air now for broadcast 18".)
But we've got all the Hitz news right here..
Including news on the fulltime license application, the next Hitz Mini Mag,
and when they're likely to be on-air again!
Voting Deadline - THIS WED:
If you are using Netscape rather than Explorer,
then you may have had trouble using voting for your ULTIMATE WILD FANS TRACKLISTING'.
This is now fixed, and we'll extend the voting deadline till next Wednesday December 6.
Remember, you can now vote for any number of Wild CDs on the one page,
you don't need to type in your name and email address more than once!
Here's this week's trivia question..
"I've seen you around.. I think you're very attractive.. would you go to bed with me?"
Which track on Wild CD 7 contains that quote?
Here's the answer backwards.. [og dna hcout - uoy dluow]

|
November 18, 2000. Wild Brisbane delayed.. Wild CD 12 coming soon..
|
Wild Brisbane News:
The station was due onair a week ago, but is yet to start 'doofing'.
Here's the official explanation..
Our listeners in Brisbane would have noticed that WILD didn't start
broadcasting on November 11th as originally planned.
The Brisbane station has experienced a few problems, financial and
managerial, that have prevented the station from going to air.
[WILD Brisbane is run by One FM Broadcasters Incorporated and is independent
from WILD FM Sydney.]
At the request of the board of management of One FM
Broadcasters Incorporated a number of staff from WILD Sydney have gone to
Brisbane to help the local team resolve the issues.
We'll give you an update on this as soon as we can.
Wild CD 12 and the big page:
The latest Wild CD is due out in the first week of December,
which is the same time that we'll publish our 'ULTIMATE WILD FANS TRACKLISTING'.
You can now vote for any number of Wild CDs on the one page,
you don't need to type in your name and email address more than once!
If you haven't voted for each disk, or you're yet to vote at all, please
do it this week as we're about to compile the big list!
Here's this week's trivia question..
Wild CD 10 was a special disc set, featuring two gold-coloured CDs.
It also had a song on each disc with the same title, but they sounded quite different..
Do you know which song title that was?

|
November 11, 2000. Wild Brisbane Back? Last chance to vote..
|
Wild News:
Wild FM Brisbane is back on air today, on 97.3FM. This broadcast will go through until
December 29. (2 full days to recharge before New Years Eve..)
The Ultimate Wild Fans CD vote:
This is it... if you haven't voted yet at all, or you missed a few CDs,
you can vote for any song on any CD from 1-10... on the one page!
This is your final chance to vote, and help create
the Ultimate Wild Fans CD tracklisting..
As you go through the vote, you'll also find 10 facts about the Wild CD series
that you may not know already...
For example: Wild CD 4 featured 'Feels so Good' by Sonique; 3 years before it became a world-wide hit in the year 2000.

November 5, 2000. Your -LAST- chance to help Hitz FM..
|
Hitz News:
If you're on the official Hitz FM email list, you'll have received this..
If you love Hitz and you haven't.. read it now!
[note that it's been edited down to fit here..]
The Australian Broadcasting Authority has announced that it is seeking applications for full time community licenses in Melbourne.
The ABA will consider key factors in it's final decision including the needs and interests of the community and the capacity of the applicant to provide
the proposed service.
The ABA don't listen to HITZ FM, you do. And you need to tell them you do.
Your words will be submitted to the ABA with HITZ FM's application which is due on November 24, 2000.
If you have not done so already, we urge you to write a letter before
November 24, addressed to the Australian Broadcasting Authority in support
of HITZ FM's bid for a full time license. The address is:
Australian Broadcasting Authority
c/- HITZ FM Broadcasters Inc.
PO BOX 7655
Melbourne, Victoria 8004
Australia.
One year from now, there will be no temporary aspirant radio, just two new
full time FM community stations on 89.9 and 90.7. Unless you speak up now
and show the ABA that one of these new licenses needs to be given to HITZ
FM, Melbourne will lose the energy of local young talent and the only place
on the radio to hear new dance, R&B and pop all day.
So you've got about 2 weeks to write your letter and send it to Hitz.
Pick up a pen, open up "Microsoft Word", and kick butt today!

October 29, 2000. Cancelled: Wild Sydney Summer Bcast.. and overseas fun..
|
Wild News:
Now, just 2 weeks after we told you about the special Summer Wild Broadcast in Sydney,
it's been revealed that the broadcast will NOT happen.
To read the full version of the story, access the official wild site.
The Wild team want to bribe you, to write a catchy message for their Bumper stickers.
Go to the official wild site for info on the prizes you could score!
Other News:
Sorry for the break in news there.. just been for a week's conference in Bali!
Interesting stuff in the shops.. no, not the expected dodgy music CDs and Playstation games,
but also mp3 compilations. (You get 10-12 hours of music per CD!)
For example, 50,000 Rupiah ($10 aust) gets you 'Best of Madonna'.
It contains EVERYTHING she's ever recorded, plus 2 live concerts.. hundreds of photos/themes...
Hmm.. I wonder what Warner music reckons?
I also completed day one of Flying Trapeze School (13 metres/40 foot off the ground),
visited the monkeys in the rainforest at a way-cool place called Ubud,
-and found some cool doof in a club called 'The Bounty'.. plus some Illusions.. ;))

|
October 19, 2000. Hitz FM departures, and 'all ages' report..
|
Hitz News:
If you haven't heard already, Tracey Wooding.. Hitz's Programme Director (person in charge of the on-air
sound of the station) has resigned. She will help out with the next broadcast, however.
Johnahan Mantel has also resigned from his position as production manager (person who makes all the
whizzy sponsor announcements, sound effects, etc). We wish them both luck.
(Thanks to Linky Dunn for this news- he claims that the recent Hitz test broadcast was almost
as good as the legendary 3rd broadcast, of Summer 93-94!)
One of the great things about Hitz broadcasts, is even though they end eventually..
you get an end-of-broadcast party whether you're under or over 18.
Royce Cocciardi reports on the all-ages End of Broadcast party..
We made our way to the Hitz FM Underage End of broadcast party at Next Blue located at the Crown
complex..
We missed the first hour or so, but then when we got back, the place was still pretty busy, as it was also the
INSANITY Underage Dance Party. And featured a live performance
from "Rudy" (who had the very popular single "Wake up in Heaven")
which also did very well in the Hitz 20 countdown, I think it got to the
top 5 at one stage.
So anyways we were down there from about 2:30 till 4:00 then decided to head back home.
We also met a few Hitz FM presenters, but we really had a great day and look forward to more
Hitz FM events when they return in 2001.
(thanks RC!)

October 18, 2000. Wild FM back, does that mean the streaker too?
|
Wild News:
Hmm.. now THIS is a surprise.. Wild FM Sydney back on air in January!
Here's the news from Gogo at Wild..
WILD FM has just received news that we have secured a special event broadcast
license in Sydney for the period December 4th to January 1st! Yippee!
The broadcast license was issued to celebrate the Centenary of Federation in Australia.
The license was issued to Phil Muscatello of Really Really BIG Productions
who has appointed WILD FM to provide the music and general programming for the station.
All the WILD announcers will be involved and the station will only play excellent WILD music.
The frequency is 95.3fm.
Gogo also mentioned that they need people to stick up posters, so if you can help out..
email gogo @ wildfm.com.au with your NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER
and a list of places that you can hang a WILD poster.
Ultimate Wild Fans CD vote:
Well, we're almost there. Soon you'll have a chance to vote on your faves from Wild CD 10,
and with your help, we'll publish the track listing for the Ultimate Wild Fans CD.
But just before we do that.. a little surprise is coming...

|
Wild Photos? Oh yeah, they're wild:
Well, I've been promising them for a while, and here they are!
Exclusive photos from Wild FM's Sydney's last few nights of broadcast..
PLUS.. something really scary.. THE WILD FM STREAKER.
If that doesn't get you to tell your friends about www.rawwildhitz.cjb.net
..then nothing will ;)
Hitz FM:
Sadly, off air again tonight.
Some good news though.. it seems that Hitz's record company has got off its backside
and distributed the Hitz 4 CD properly interstate.
(sadly, Hitz CDs haven't been well looked after outside Vic. in the past)
An example of GOOD distribution this time was my visit to Sydney airport the other day.
The Sanity store there has STACKS of Hitz 4 CDs.. well done Global!
