Interview with Lisa
Now that you've read our rundown on Lisa Kastaniotis, former Hitz FM announcer..
and her adventures on TEN's "Shipwrecked 2"..
We'd better do a quick (exclusive) interview with her!

Lisa on Hitz FM
|
1) Was Hitz your first involvement in radio? If not, what was?
Hitz is the only radio station I've been involved in.
2) You joined Hitz back in July '92 (2nd broadcast). How did this happen?
I heard the first broadcast and they were advertising for volunteers for the second broadcast.
So I called up and began training as a presenter. My first on air gig was presenting
the heavy metal show. It later changed to the alternative music show.
|
3) Hitz made it BIG back in Summer 93/94. Your
favourite memory from then?
All the friends I made. It was so great to have a place to go where you worked hard
(for free) and felt like you were doing something good for the youth of Melbourne.
4) What was the best bit of hosting the alt/hard rock show?
Getting to chose the music I played and interview the artists I admired.

|
5) What have you been doing since you finished with
Hitz in 96/97?
Lots of stuff! Uni, working, travelling, living on a desert island...
6) What's the strangest thing you've kept from your days at Hitz?
A mangled Barbie doll that used to hang at Xavier College where we held the second broadcast!
|
7) Been working, studying?
I completed an Arts Degree and then did a year of Advertising.
In between I have travelled and had lots of weird and wonderful jobs.
Now I work in marketing and am developing a copywriting portfolio.
8) How did you find out about Shipwrecked 2's search for participants?
I used to watch the first series and they advertised for participants for the sequel
- kind of like how I got involved in Hitz!
|
|
|
9) Did you "go for it" straight away?
No, I was bet by a friend to enter. If I didn't I would have to go the gym with him
every morning for 10 days!
10) What did they ask for in the application? (if you're allowed to answer that)
We just had to be ourselves and talk about why we should be chosen.
A part of the video had to be in a bathing suit,
to prove we had no inhibition about our bodies.
|
11) Besides your "bikini pub crawl", what else was in
your application video?
I did a little dance - very embaressing - I hope it NEVER gets aired!
12) What was the training camp like.. the high rope bridge..
Terrifying, gruelling, challenging... it was as much a mental test as a physical one.
And I am really scared of hights, but I made it...just!
|
|
|
13) Did you ever forgive the guy for pretending you
hadn't made it, and then telling you were "in"?
Don't even start me on that one!
14) Tell us about some of the other people on the island..
They were all really amazing people. Even if we didn't get along all of the time
they all had something unique about them which I could appreciate.
|
15) Best bits, worst bits..
Best Bits - sleeping under the stars
Worst Bits - long drop (hole in the ground for a toilet!)
16) Any tips for would-be "Shipwrecked 3" participants?
Be yourself. Enjoy and appreciate every minute of your stay.
And don't forget, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!
|
|
Thanks so much Lisa.. best of luck.
If you want to find out more about Lisa, the final episode of Shipwrecked 2
