Magical Amulets, Charms & Talismans
Amulets, charms and talismans have been part of many different cultural religions and magical workings, they have been used for centuries and still remain today.
An amulet is an object worn as a charm, it is most often made from stone or metal and has either an inscription or figures engraved on it.
A charm is a magic act or object that's supposed to ward off danger and bring good luck and a talisman is an astrological charm or symbol believed to be beneficial to the wearer.

Amulets, Charms and Talismans

Acorn  - Attracts the opposite gender, increases income, divinatory powers and prosperity.

Agate - Brings good luck, meditation, protection, health and purification.

Akhet - An ancient Egyptian amulet representing the rising sun.

Aladdin's Lamp - A charm shaped like Aladdin's lamp means good luck and happiness.

Alligator teeth - Protection against sorcery and danger

Amber - Brings balance, harmony, protection and psychic powers.

Amethyst - Brings power, peace, protection, spirituality, intelligence, luck, pyschic power and true love.

Animal Shapes - Amulets made in the shape of animals are supposed to give the wearer the qualities of the animal.

Ankh - An Egyptian amulet symbolizing life and power.

Bell - An amulet used in the west intended to ward off the 'evil eye' and dispel hostile spirits.

Billiken - A good luck ornament in the shape of a human figure.

Broom - Used to brush away negative influences and sweep in good luck.

Cat - Cat shaped jewelry represents prophecy, luck, protection and granting of wishes.

Chai - A symbol of life, made from either gold or silver it grants the weare longevity.

Cross - Represents life and divine protection, christians believed it was a supreme amulet against all forces of evil. It was though to be able to cure illness and rive away demons.

Cylinder Seal - Made in the shape of a cylindrical seal out of clay, precious stones and limestone. It was worn around the neck by the Sumerians to help settle business agreements.

Dragon - Dragon-shaped amulets were worn for love, happiness, balance and fertility.

Eye of God - An amulet used to stop 'the evil eye'. It was supposed to protect people, homes and fields.

Eye of Horus - This was made out of gold, copper, silver, clay or wood and was worn to give strength, vitality, and protection.

Fetish - An amulet, charm, talisman or object thought to contain magical power and spirits for power and strength.

Four Leaf Clover - A good luck amulet representing fame, wealth, love and health.

Fox Tail - A good luck amulet attached to personal possessions.

Heart - An amulet worn by many people around the world symbolizing love and devotion.

Hexagram - It was worn in many parts of the world for protection against evil. It was worn by Jewish people as the star of David.

Horn of Plenty - An amulet symbolizing prosperity.

Horse and Cattle amulets - Ribbons, bells and peices of metal were once attached to horses and cattle to keep them from harm.

Horseshoe - An amulet nailed to barn doors for good luck.

Household amulets - An amulet attached to a door or window was used to keep the house from harm.

Knot - An amulet knotted on string or cord was believed to ward off illness or hold the love of a sweetheart.

Jupiter - Brings honor and riches to the wearer.

Mars - Gives courage, persistence and recklessness, usually made out of red stone such as ruby.

Mercury - Brings sucess in the arts and science and gives the skill in detecting thieves. Made out of agate, carnelian and sardonyx.

Mezuzah - A doorpost amulet designed to keep a house safe from evil spirits, demons and ghosts.

Moon - An amulet worn to bring success in love and good fortune in travels.

Nefer - An amulet worn by the Egyptians representing beauty and goodness.

Pentagram - A five pointed star representing the five elements of earth, air, fire, water and spirit. It is thought to protect the weare against evil spirits and is the symbol of Wicca with the point facing upwards.

Rings - Worn as amulets to treat illnesses, dispel forces of evil and keep lovers together.

Saturn - Gives dignity, industry, trust ans success in business. Made from black stones such as jet, obsiden or black coral.

Scarab - A sacred beetle used for egyptian funery amulets, thought to help guide the deceased into the afterlife and help them through the heart ceremony.

Sma - An amulet representing the lungs, was used by the Egyptians to give breathing power to the dead by placing them on the mummies.

Star - Used to ward off evil and encourage good fortune.

Sun - Was worn to bring prosperity and friendship.

Tassle - An amulet made from cords, threads or strands, a symbol of good luck in Mexico.

Turtle - A tortoise shaped charm was worn to give courage, creativity, intelligence, spiritual protection, compassion, fertility and protection.

Venus - Gives love and appreciation of beauty.
