As they travelled along the rat brothers learned that Ophelia and Dulchinea were princesses from the kingdom of Rattus. The boys were told that Ophelia's kingdom posessed one of the pieces of magic cheese to guard against the witch. Their parents had been captured by the witch but had always told their daughters that, if they were captured, not to give the cheese for their ransom to the witch, but to take it to the Wizard and return to the kingdom to rule in their place. The boys felt very sorry for the princesses and told them they would give them their piece of cheese and help them find the remaining one so they could wish for their parents' safe return. "That is the most unselfish gesture I have ever known." said Dulchinea "In return for your noble deed you will be welcomed and given a home in our palace" added Opehlia. The boys were a little saddened by not getting to return to Kansas but they knew they were doing the right thing. Soon they saw, ahead of them, a brillant emerald light surronding the wizards' beautiful castle. They stopped and gasped as they read a banner appearing in the sky, and then ran to the entrance and told the guards who they were. One guard escorted them to the wizard's court.
