Meanwhile, back at the castle, the witch was trying to convince the three captives that she would gladly release them if they would just tell her where the magic cheese was hidden. The rats were pretending to believe the witch but had already come up with a plan of their own when they were being carried back to the castle by the rat army. Ophelia and Dulchinea hid in the cage where the witch had imprisioned them and let Uncle Scottso do all the talking. Uncle Scottso cleverly told the witch that the cheese was hidden in a cave near the woods by the Wizards castle. The witch believed this, knowing that the rats would probably not choose to carry the cheese with them in case of capture. She sent for the boss rat general and instructed him to take the army and search for the cave. Knowing that the tiny rat could be telling her a story she decided not to eat them until the rat army returned with the cheese. "i'll be back in a half an hour", the witch said wrly to the little rat, "By then my rats should be here with my cheese!"
