This is a brief history of the girl rats. The bios are in order from youngest to oldest rattie. When you are finished reading, follow the links at the bottom of the page to explore more of the site.

I showed up around Valentine's Day, 2002 (my name is Sugar, BTW). I've been around humans ever since I was born, so I'm really used to them now. I don't mind being picked up or anything!

But I hate it when they just set me on them and start pettin' me. What am I, a stuffed animal?? I like to run around and play and explore!

When I first got to my new home, this really gentle human put out his hand to let me sniff. He smelled like flour and cinnamon (I later learned he was baking bread). I loved him immediatly. I climbed into the pocket of his hoodie and stayed there for three hours. I hated being in my cage since I practically never had to be in one before. I got scared when my other humans just left me there; I didn't really know what was going on. But then my new human gave me some of that bread stuff and I was able to relax.

After a couple days, he started to take me on walks around the neighborhood. And within two weeks, I could take the noisy bus without getting too scared. I would go all the way downtown and run errands and then we'd go to the library and read. Most of the time, I'd just go to sleep.

Hi there. My name is Sweetie. I was the first. I showed up around May 12th, 2001 in my old mom's purse. The human and me were best friends ever since we met. I loved to run around our room and play on stuff. He used to give me all my favorite stuff any time I wanted it; all I had to do was beg (I'm good at that). I had so much sugar for my first couple of months, the human started calling me Sweetie. It just stuck I guess. I love cheesepuffs and burrowing, and I really love yogurt. And I like to meet new people (rats and humans alike).

I'm old now so I don't move around as much. I used to be able to run all over the place. I remember back when I would go and get stuck on the top of the door frame using the window blinds and a hung up towel. Now I can barely get this bag of bones out of bed to pee! Someone better start making Adult Diapers for rats!

There've been lots of ratties that have come and gone over the years, but I'm one of the few that's stayed. No matter what goes on with Ben, I know he'll always have my back. We're buds. I've survived three moves and was at one time part of a mischief of 27 rats! Now that was crazy. There were so many rats in one room, you couldn't tell what was going on half the time. But that's all different now. The new motto is: No more than five rats at a time. That way, we can all have a fair amount of quality, independant schooling and roaming time.
