Our First Pop Up Camper..
A 1974 Starcraft Trail Star XL
A few years ago we decided it was time to stop sleeping on the ground. We wanted to explore the world of Pop Up Camping , or as they are more commonly known in Canada. Tent Trailers.
These wonderful toys tend to be expensive so we though it best if we started with a good used model. Thinking if it was for us, we would later upgrade. We spent some time shopping the classified ads and then spent an entire day driving up and down Vancoouver Island, until we finally settled on this wonderful little camper.
We called her The BeeHive, strangly she even looked like a little hive.
We loved camping in her. What made her different and the reason we picked her over the others was the unusual floor plan. Most PU's (Pop ups) have bunks that slide out at the back and front ends. The BeeHive has bunks that fold out to the sides and her door was at the back.

She has a dinette, an ice box, a carry out stove and a sink. We eventually removed the sink and replaced it with a storage box. We also removed all the workings for the stove. The old propane hoses made me feel uneasy.
We were told they worked fine but I would rather be safe than sorry.

We kept the stove though and we attached it to the outside of the camper and used it to set our Coleman camp stove on.
My very good friend Mrs Bean aka Wendy, made us this wonderful ornament, its a plastic canvas replica of The BeeHive. We absolutely love it and will treasure it always!
She also made us this wonderful graphic.
SOLD! April 21, 2004 The Beehive was sold to a nice young family, we hopw they enjoy camping in her as much as we did.
The BeeHive and The Bee's Knees next to each other in the drive way. There is quite a size difference!
