Princess Princess is an all girl rock band that serves up a good mix of smooth pop and rock. The band was formed in 1983 and consisting of lead vocalist/guitarist Okui Kaori, lead guitarist Nakayama Kanako, Bassist Watanabe Atsuko, Keyboard player Konno Tomoko, and drums Tomita Kyoko. Most of the music is written by the lead vocalist , Okui Kaori, while Nakayama Kanako takes on the majority of the lyric writing. The other band members all have occasionally written lyrics and music for the band, including some of the band's greatest hits. While Konno Tomoko and Nakayama Kanako has also occasionally stolen the mic to croon or belt out a few songs.
Their first release was a mini-album title "Kiss De Crime" on May 21, 1986. Also making their first stage debut at that time. Since then they have release 9 full length albums, 3 best-of albums and 1 instrumental album. Concluding with a Box Set of all their songs since "Kiss De Crime". Through the years they have managed to experiment somewhat with different musical style, including Samba, Funk and Country. They also have a number of video releases, including a compilation video which has all the songs on their best of album "Singles 1987-1992", which as the title implies is a compilation of all the singles and some B sides the band released during 1987 to 1992. If you haven't heard or seen Princess Princess this is the one to start with.
Over the life of the band, spanning over a decade, their songs have consistantly hit the charts. It also doesn't hurt that the lead singer is very cute!
In short they are the Coolest and the Ultimate girl rock band anywhere!
