The perfect start to the season saw Rapid see off Clevedon in comfortable fashion. Clevedon offered little in the way of attacking, scoring one of two chances, compared to Rapids 7. Rapid dominated and should have scored more, but in the end it was a double from Elvis Mcreynolds that sealed the points. Mcreynolds opened the scoring on 25 with an 25 yard curler into the top right. Hubert Bjorling then equalised on 57 after a good solo run. But Rapids pressure finally broke down Clevedons defence when Elvis Mcreynolds showed a sublime peice of skill to round two defenders and place the ball in the bottom left of the goal. Man of the Match Elvis said later "We played well throughout and I thought Alex and Jasper were excellent. We could have more but they had a good defence and we are happy with the points." The win was no less than Rapid deserved as they dominated throughout. Although Elvis deserved his Man of the Match, new signing Jasper Dixon showed why he was a first team player at FC Mount with a display worthy of a goal. Jasper showed some great ball control and skill, setting up many of Rapids attacks. Jasper told Garth Crooks, "I enjoyed that game, it is always good to get off to a good start. I left FC Mount simply because they had financial troubles but Rapid are constantly climbing the rankings and it is great to be part of a young squad." Rapid manager Percy Foreskin added, "The win was essential, I beleive Clevedon are one of the best in the league and to beat them in tht manner was an excellent performance. We now look towards Minehead AFC with a lot of confidence. I have brought in 7 younsters in the past week to provide cover for our first team players and they will play most of the friendlies during the week. I thought Elvis was emmense today, as were Alex and Jasper. Our defence looked solid and there was nothing wrong with our performance. there goal was a great solo effort but they showed little else going forward. Its only one game but it will give the lads huge confidence. Its also good to see Liberty City winning, if both clubs can get promoted it will be interesting if we are pitted in the same league."
