Notes: Top
  • A third soak in the drum can be given if necessary
  • When processing particularly spongy or loosely structured materials, the hydrated lime is placed partly or completely by Koalin, is a quantity giving a concentration of 25° 86
  • For soft types of leather a reliming may be carried out :
    • 100% used lime liquor
    • 100% water 25 C
    • 2% hydrated lime
    • 0.25% Baymol A liq. (dilute 1:5 50 C) 30 min
    • fun for 2min every hour approx. 1-4 days
  • For long wool sheep skins dilute sodium sulphide with water
  • For the reason stated under (2), the hydrated lime proportion is reduced accordingly or omitted altogether
  • Instead of the combination of kerosane/Baymol a Liq., 5-8% Baymol D may also be used for degreasing, Baymol D is biodegradable
  • The proportionate use of formic acid (e.g. 0.2% formic acid and 0.2% sulphuric acid permits a faster rate of pickle penetration, and leads to a particularly fine grain
