WEEK 8 PICTURES

Wow the time has flown. In less than a week they will all be leaving me for their new forever homes! Faramir already left me yesterday (May 26). It is a bittersweet feeling to see them go -- I will miss them but I know they will have wonderful lives with their new families. All have been spayed and neutered including mom, the puppies are officially weaned, and they are starting to play with the "big dogs" now. There has been a shift in puppy hierarchy with a few of the boys outgrowing the girls and starting to use their larger size to their advantage. Some ears are starting to stand up and they are definitely becoming more inquisitive and active! New weights at 8 weeks (Day 56) are:

  1. Saira - 12 lbs 5 oz
  2. Boromir - 12 lbs 7 oz
  3. Faramir - 11 lbs 9 oz (Day 55 before he left)
  4. Taurnil - 13 lbs 1 oz
  5. Eowyn - 12 lbs 5 oz
  6. Gandalf - 15 lbs 7 oz
  7. Arwen - 14 lbs 8 oz
  8. Aragorn - 15 lbs 0 oz
  9. Raen - 14 lbs 2oz

Faramir left me to go with his new mommy! Magdalena drove 14 hours one way to come get him so I know she is going to make him a wonderful new owner! I look forward to getting periodic updates (hint, hint Magdalena!) and I am so happy he has gone to such a wonderful home. This is what makes being a foster home and doing rescue so rewarding!!

DAY 56 -- 8 WEEKS OLD

Playing with the "Big Dogs". Kaigan is the lighter fawn with a "foxier" face, and he is my "other" foster. Faia whom I recently adopted from ARWNY is the white-faced red, and she has VKH which has caused her to lose her eyes. She gets around amazingly well without them tho! Inori is the silver fawn and Zen is the darker fawn -- both have shaved areas because I have been using them as guinea pigs to test the new ultrasound machine at work.

Kaigan and Aragorn having an old-fashioned Western stand-off with Eowyn falling asleep because she is so bored with the silly boys!

Kaigan watches the silly puppies play -- Eowyn, Raen, Aragorn (again having a faceoff with Kaigan), and Saira

Kaigan & Faia with Raen, Aragorn, Boromir, & Taurnil

Saira tries so hard to get Faia to play with her, Taurnil watches and plots how to best get in on the action. Right after this he pounces on Saira while Faia is distracting her!

Zen wrestles with Boromir while Gandalf (who is SO much like Zen it is scary!) runs to get in on the action. Once again Eowyn is bored with the antics of the males around her.

Playing with "Aunt Inori" - -Inori is just a big puppy herself and makes a great aunt/big sister for the puppies. The first one is Inori showing the little ones (Saira & Aragorn) how to look mean!

Inori and Aragorn "chatting" while Arwen eavesdrops and Gandalf finds a new toy under the porch to play with

Inori watches Gandalf run off with the ball while Taurnil prepares to pounce and Boromir wisely decides to just sit this one out and watch.

Inori rolls Saira. Taurnil is the yellow behind in the background

Puppies at Play - Day 56. They are a combination of NASCAR (zooming around), WWF smackdown, and "Keep-Away" when they are playing.

SmackDown Part 1 -- Boromir pins Eowyn

SmackDown Part 2 - Boromir body slams Raen who has Eowyn pinned (poor Eowyn is always getting stuck on the bottom of the pile!)

Arwen & Eowyn playing tug-of-way with the toy while Aragorn watches hoping to find an opportune moment to jump in and steal it from both of them!

Raen has the toy and Taurnil & Saira want it!

Puppy Pile

Gandalf sneaking a peek at the puppy coming to attack from behind while Saira jumps down to go tackle the attacking puppy!

Every now & then they do slow down -- Gandalf & Aragorn looking cute & irresistible to convince me to let them inside. "We PROMISE we won't chew up anything" - anyone believe that????

Some individual shots -- it is hard to get them still long enough to get good individual shots so these are "on the run"!

Arwen -- who did actually pose. Her ears are starting to stand!

Gandalf -- sitting, watching, & plotting his next mischevious prank. Don't be fooled by that so cute & innocent face!

Raen -- caught in mid-U-turn.

Taurnil -- it is hard work being so adorable and sweet!

And finally the mom to this horde of maniacs -- Nakita. She has decided officially she is through with motherhood and is starting to act very playful and puppyish herself. She is very people oriented and loves to jump & bounce when walking. I think she is an excellent agility candidate! Here are the latest pictures of her taken May 26th. If you are interested in adopting her, she will also be placed through Akita Rescue of Western New York
