Father came home from work tired, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door. "Daddy, may I ask you
a question?" Moral : Parents must share their time with their dear children.
"Sure, what is it?" replied the father.
"Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
"That is none of your business. Why do you ask such a silly question?" the father questioned.
"I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the little boy.
"If you must know, I make Rs. 200 an hour".
"Oh," the little boy replied, "Daddy, may I borrow Rs. 100 from you?"
The father was angry, "if you want to borrow some money to buy a silly toy or a book of comics, walk straight
to your room and go to bed. I work long hours everyday and don't have time for such childish behaviour." The
little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The father sat down and started to think about the son's behaviour. How dare he ask such questions to get some
money. After some time he calmed down and started to think kindly of his little son.
"May be there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs. 100 and he rarely asked for money."
He went to the room of the little boy and opened the door. "Are you asleep my son?" he asked.
"No daddy, I am awake," replied the boy.
"I was too unpleasant with you today." said the father, "it has been a long day and I expressed my tiresomeness
on you. I am very sorry. Here is the Rs. 100 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up smiling. "Oh, thank you Daddy!" he shouted in joy.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some folded currency notes. Seeing that the boy already had money,
his father started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted his money, then looked up at his father. "Why
do you want more money if you already have some?" the father questioned in anger.
"Because I did not have enough but now I do have enough," the little boy replied sweetly, "Daddy, I have Rs. 200 now.
I can now buy an hour of your time. Please take this Rs. 200 and come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The father stood speechless, understood the message and learnt a valuable lesson.
