The Dark and Bloody Ground
Episode Fifteen
Nemesis - Part  two
Astrid, Leroy, Stephanie and Elizabeth, an expert on magical portals, arrive in an alternate dimension while searching for the missing Josh and find themselves surrounded by a war party of red-skinned humanoids.
Cool heads prevailing, the group is able to avoid conflict and the war party leads them to their village where they meet the Chief, Janos the Elder and the Singing Mountain tribal Shaman, Coyame. When they inform the elders of their identity and purpose, and realizing that their missing friend was the one held responsible for the death of the DemoLord Renjavarus, the tribe decide to test them. Leroy was able to soundly defeat their strongest warrior - Janos the Younger, son of the chief and Steph proves her abilities as a warrior in an impressive display of speed and dexterity. The SInging Mountain Tribe decide to join forces to stop their mutual Nemesis.
The elders explain that they share this world, which they call Barsoom,  with a vicious tribe of four-armed nomadic demons called the Shotun and for many years they have fought with them for the sparse food and water available. A few generations ago, when a large underground water source was discovered ,some of  the red-skinned humans moved to the caverns of what the call Singing Mountain (due to the haunting melody produced by wind blowing through the hollow mountain). Calling theselves the Singing Mountain Clan, they started raising livestock and hardy vegetables and defended their lair from the Shotun. For a few generations they were able to live in relative peace, but then about 25 years ago, two Greater Shotun were born. These shotun grew much larger than the rest - the female, Sheeva, being over 8 ft tall and her mate, Renjavarus, standing over 10, with massive muscles and thick skin. Upon reaching adulthood, the two greater Shotun became leaders of the tribe and with the males massive strength and the female's ability with magic the Red-Skins became a favorite prey. Eventually, the Singing Mountain Clan were  the only known red-skin tribe left on all of Barsoom and their number was depleted in battle after battle.
Then, two years ago, Renjaverus disappeared. Rumour spread that he was killed by a visiting human, but no one new the full truth - that the death was an accident caused when Sheeva, trying to find a better world to conquer, experimented with a portal spell and Josh accidently finding it and coming to her realm. Renjavarus chased after Josh and as Josh escaped back to his own world, Renjavarus was killed when the portal collapsed. Since that day, Sheeva had been trying to find a way to resurrect her mate. Eventually she learned of a spell that could recreate Renjavarus. The spell was very difficult, but could be done if she was able to use a human - especially if she could find and use the very human that she felt responsable for his death. So, she started using her magicks to detect to find Josh. It took her several months to detect his aura, and several more, utilizing a spell in which she could see through his eyes for a few moments at a time, to find his exact location on Earth. Once he was located she opened a portal, stepped through into a very small room. Seeing her foe, she quickly grabbed for him. The attack was so sudden he was barely able to fight at all, but she was suprised when he stabbed her with some sort of weapon. Before he could mount a better defense, she had a hold of him and stepped back to her dimension. He was able to briefly get loose and kill a couple of her warriors before he was taken down and bound by chains.
Gathering up an army of 70 warriors, the Singing Mountain Clan accompany the group to find Josh and the Shotun. With help from the Clan scouts, and a little luck, they are able to get close enough to Josh for Astrid's heightened senses to lead the rest of the way. They found the Shotun and discovered the spell to raise Renjavarus already underway. Without much time to prepare, the Singing Mountain Clan charged the Shotun and a great battle began.
Steph was able to pull of an amazing shot with her pistol. Hitting Sheeva in the throat and slowing the ritual. Sheeva's healing ability allowed her to recover quickly, but the group was able to fight their way through the army below and almost reached the platform.
Right before the spell was complete, as everything was reaching a fevered pitch, one of Sheeva's acolytes interupted her to inform her that the spell wouldn't work. For as the full moon rose, a change accurred. . .now instead of Josh tied to the sacrificial alter, a werewolf let out a terrifying howl and shattered the chains!
Both armies, Singing Mountain and Shotun alike, scattered. The werewolf lunged toward Sheeva. Sheeva was able to quickly open a portal, in which Josh sailed through. Before the portal could close, Astrid also choose to jump.
Sheeva watched as the spirit of Renjavarus disappeared forever, before turning to the group and asking why they didn't just tell her he was a lycanthrope? "He's no good to me now" with that, she and her acolytes left Stephanie, Leroy, and Elizabeth behind to find their own way home.
Fortunantly, Steph and Elizabeth are able to utilize the mystic location and Elizabeths magic tomes to open there own portal and leap through. . .coming out onto a lovely Sunday morning Campus. Where Astrid and a nude, human, Josh are busy talking about Josh's issues. Josh promises that he's fresh out of secrets and Leroy is able to procure a pair of pants for him.
