Owen County Kentucky, USA Death: Sep. 7, 1946 Sioux City Woodbury County Iowa, USA Jefferson Davis Works, age 71, widower of Rebecca Ann Hughes Works died Sunday September 8, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa where he had lived for the last several months prior to his death. For many years Mr. Works was a teacher at God's Bible School, Sioux City, Iowa. Jefferson Davis, a native of Owen County, KY, was the son of Albert Jasper and Martha 'Mattie' E. True Works. Jefferson was survived by his son, Clayton Cleary Works and his daughter Odella Works Cope (FNU) Taylor (Carl E.), both of Latonia Lakes, KY, a half-sister, Mrs. Effie Works Ireland (Hendrix Ireland), Covington, and a sister, Mrs. Flora Works Hughes (Augustus (Gus) Hughes) of Cynthiana, KY, and a brother, Emmett Works, St. Louis, MO. Mr. Works ultimately had five grandchildren; Wayne Clayton Works, Earl Stanley Works, Sharon Marlene Works Womble (John Randolph), Martha Ann Works Britton (Archie Donald), and Edwin Earl Cope. Mr. Works also had a brother, Ausker (Oscar?) Works, DOB about 1879 and a sister, Florie. Arrangements were completed by the Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Covington, KY. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Kenton County, KY. New Columbus Owen County Kentucky, USA Death: Jul. 11, 1939 Covington Kenton County Kentucky, USA Rebecca Hughes Works, age 65, wife of Jefferson Davis Works died suddenly on July 11, 1939 when she was stricken with a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Odella Cope Taylor (Carl) on Clair Avenue, Covington, She was pronounced dead at Booth Hospital where she was transported after suffering a coronary thrombosis. Mrs. Works, a gospel mission worker was superintendent of the People's Gospel Mission, Scott Street, Covington, KY. Mrs. Works, a native of Owen County, KY, was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Ann Hale Hughes. In addition to her husband and her daughter, Odella Works Cope (FNU) Taylor (Carl E.), Mrs. Works was survived by a son, Clayton Cleary Works, and a brother, Silas P. Hughes. Mrs. Works had five grandchildren: Wayne Clayton Works, Earl Stanley Works, Sharon Marlene Works Womble (John Randolph), Martha Ann Works Britton (Archie Donald), and Edwin Earl Cope. Rebecca was predeceased by a grandson, Walter Cope. In addition to brother Silas P. Hughes, Rebecca had the following siblings: John William Hughes; Katherine 'Katie' Hughes Davis (J. C. B.); Cynthia 'Cynthie' T. Hughes Morgan (Ben) Fogle (Jasper); Nancy Ellen 'Nannie' Hughes Works (James Crawford); Augustus 'Gus' Hughes, Mary Frances 'Frankie' Hughes Ireland (Asa William); George Samuel Hughes; and Granville Hughes. Visitation was at the resident and services were held at the People's Gosptal Mission on Friday, July 14, 1939, with Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Covington, KY, in charge of arrangements.
