Later that day, we headed toward
our next destination, Lucerne, via the Emmenthal region. Emmenthal
is rural, with rolling hills and grazing heards of cows. You always
can hear the bells on the cows ringing off in the distance, almost
like windchimes.
Dairy is big business here--the
region is the official home of real Swiss cheese,more properly
known as Emmenthaler cheese. So we just had to visit a
cheese factory. Nothing worth taking photos of, but the place
had a scenic patio/biergarten, where Jim befriended a Swiss cat.
On to Lucerne...
