Here's an interview that I conducted a couple of days back. The interviewee was Tifany Hsu from San Jose State University who is majoring in Digital Arts and the Media.
The talk between Tiffany Hsu and Ramya Mehul is about the "Distance Learning in the Internet"

Tiffany: Will a potential employer accept an online degree? Will your current employer accept a degree earned through distance learning as qualification for a promotion or raise?
Ramya: The answer is ... a definite maybe. Overall, perceptions are somewhat more favorable. This is what the surveys have found. I suggest that first students should be well aware that they might encounter some prejudice against distance learning. To counter this, they should evaluate a school carefully before investing their time and money in their online program.
Tiffany: True, Also they should investigate the professional field that interests them and see what are the generally accepted credentials in their specific field? Also as to what are the more prestigious credentials?
Ramya: Yes!, Yes, thats true. Also nowadays, even big corporations are turning to distance learning. These corporations have found that training employees is one of their largest expenses -- and that accommodations and travel to off-site classes can amount to the largest share of training expenses.
Tiffany: Hmmm...Thats why, to keep costs down, as well as to minimize the time that employees are away from work, corporations are turning to online courses that employees can complete at their desks, on their own schedule.
Ramya: An employers' perceptions will definitely shift, becoming more favorable to distance learning in the future.
Tiffany: Yes, Thats what I hope for too!!!
