Preface: Couple of notes from Jack Snow. (a) D'Marco Farr looks good. Walking around. Says he'll be ready by Bears game. Jack: That's just D'Marco. Coaches may hold him out. (b) We are really going to miss Amp Lee and Ernie Conwell the first part of the season.

Interview with Bunting:

1. We've had a very good training camp so far. The scrimmage with Indy was great. Enthusiasm is high largely due to the new offense by Martz.

2. Defense. We have a good young secondary. Too bad Lionel Barnes is out. Good player. Kendrick Gholston will be a good NFL player.

3. Leonard Little. Getting more reps because Mike Jones is out. If Jones was in Little would be getting limited reps. Mike Morton (the new guy picked up last week)is getting a lot of reps. Can't waste reps on Little cause we're practicing for the early part of the season which is crucial. If Little can't be in there, I can't waste reps on him. Defensive overall level of confidence is high.

4. Enthusiasm. Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, Az Hakim, Greg Hill, Trent Green-the offense is turning on the defense.

5. Marshall Faulk. He's fun to be around. Trustworthy. Leonard dumped him and Faulk got up with a smile. No nonsense kind of guy.

6. Linebackers. The defense is playing well. On Clemons/Styles/Fletcher competition. All of them do certain things well. Styles is very physical and is learning a lot quickly. Fletcher knows what's going on. Can't say who's going to start. We'll have a better idea after the Chicago game. Battles at outside backer. Styles and Clemons are getting reps there. Fletcher: middle linebacker only.

7. Secondary. Dexter McCleon is in his third year. Outstanding. Understanding what he needs to do. Compared this year to junior year in college. As a freshman you don't know anything. Same as a sophomore. As a junior you get it and as a senior you know everything. Too bad college just doesn't go on forever. Same thing in pros. Learning. Dexter is in third year and has learned what he needs to do. Learning to anticipate.

Crosby (from U. of MD), Ray Jackson, Billy Jenkins, Bush (injured), Carpenter, Coady are all playing well. Coady is coming on strong.

8. Gaylon Hyder. Big Daddy [Hairston] will make him a football player. He's got a great heart and a excellent mind.

9. Need to get Jay Williams back.
