MACOMB, IL -- The St. Louis Rams have scheduled 26 practice sessions between Thursday, July 22 and Saturday, Aug. 14 in Macomb during their 1999 summer training camp, which will be held on the Western Illinois University campus. Team practices are open free to the public. Free parking in WIU's Q-lot across from the practice fields also is available. Bleacher seating is available. Spectators also may bring lawn chairs and blankets, as well as picnic baskets and coolers; however, alcohol is not permitted on campus. Food, beverages and official Rams souvenirs are available on site. Practices typically run twice a day, with morning and afternoon drills. Daily updated practice times will be available beginning July 20 by calling WIU at 309-298-RAMS (7267). Summer 1999 marks the fourth consecutive year for the St. Louis Rams to train on the WIU campus. The NFL team moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis in 1995. That summer the Rams held training camp at Maryville College in suburban St. Louis. Since 1996, the Rams have selected WIU and Macomb as the summer training site. The Rams summer facilities are located at the north area of the WIU campus off University Drive and include training areas in Brophy Hall, with the NFL training fields just north of Brophy. A toll-free number for visitor guides and information is available through the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (MACVB); call 1-888-2GORAMS (1-888-246-7267). Information may also be accessed from the WIU (www.wiu.edu) and MACVB (www.macomb.com/macvb) World Wide Web sites.
