SCRAM'S REPORT-FUN IN THE HEAT AT CHAMPAIGN (July 30)

Well guys, first of all, don't expect much out of this,  cause this was my first training camp experance,so I spent much of the day in awe! The morning session was without pads, but the afternoon was full pads. The morning included 5 on 5 drills, that seemed to be designed for the offense to not fail for both teams.

The afternoon was where the real action was. Green hit almost everything he threw, including an  impressive thread-the-needle pass to Roland Williams. He put a pass low where  only Ike could catch it for a TD. Ike ran well. They did take him off the field after the afternoon practice, but I saw him walk  without a limp, so it must have been precautionary. I saw Hakim make a very nice strech & catch on the run on a pass from Warner, then break it.

Miller &N utten sat out with mild injuries. But the rest of the OL looked good. Timmerman looked very solid--he was never beat in the drills I saw. Spikes will be a keeper with a little playing time. OL Willie Jones is a mountain of a man. He is still raw & needs to drop some weight, but given a few years, I think he'll be a keeper! Another one who impressed was Chad Levitt--he ran hard & seemed to break it every time he touched the ball! Torry Holt caught everything thrown at him, but it wasn't much. Hill looked very quick--broke two nice runs. Holcombe looked huge--broke one for about 15yds for a TD. Didn't get to see much of Germaine--he was at other end of the field.

When I first got there,Pace,W.Jones, & R.Charoine were standing on other side of the fence. I asked "couldn't get an autograph from ya, could I?"  Willie Jones shook his head no (don't think they are supposed to when their practicing).  But Pace came over and took my book signed it and handed it to the others. Cool!!

Ok, you are probably wondering where  the defensive news is. I'll tell ya, I watched a little but I found a shade tree on the offense's  side of the field & layed claim to it. It was hot! I also met RAMSgap up there, we had a good time! Hope I got it all, I'm sure I forgot something, so there may be an  "oh yeah" post that follows!!!! LOL
