Note: Montanaman is a 49er fan. You can quibble with his assessment of the division, or how many games the Rams might win, but I for one agree with the general thrust of his post. The Rams need that "aura" of winning. Okay, point well taken. Will players like Holt, Timmerman, Collins, Faulk, and Green help them get that attitude, that "aura"? IMO, yes. That's my bet. Anyway, enjoy MM's post.--Zack.

The NFC West will be very competitive this year. If our DB's hold up, we should win the division. Your team has some good, young talent and it will be a barn-burner when we play you. The Falcons will not be surprising anyone this year, I look for them to win 9 games. If Jamal sits it out, they tumble to 7 games in the "W" column. The Falcons will be put to the test. Was last year a fluke, or are they for real, Jamal or not?? Time will tell. The Saints will be lucky to win 7. With no QB or decent WR's, the opposing defense will key on Mr. Williams. The Panthers will improve under Siefert and may surprise some teams that over look them.

The Rams will need some "breaks". If Trent Green pans out, you may compete for a wild card. In any event, when the Niners play the Rams, I expect it to be more competitive than in the past. That makes for entertaining football.

What the Rams need, more than anything else, is the mental attitude that when they step on the field that they are going to win the game. This comes with winning. If you get off to a good start, then the mental attitude will help you the rest of the season, regardless of injury. This has been one small key to the success of the Niners. Once you win consistently, an "aura" of winning begins to develop around the entire organization. A rookie player comes in, and puts the helmet on, and because of the winning tradition, he plays better.

Good luck, beat the Saints and Falcons...!! (Yes it is possible for Niner and Rams fans to have a "civil" conversation!)
