The RR's ushered in the new year together again at Union, this time without member Andrew Rickert, who was at home with a 24 hour stomach virus. The surprising illness was an indication of the type of year Rickert had. Here's to a new year.

This very well might be the last update made to the RROL. After a recent lack of interest shown by members regarding the move to a domain name, it has become apparent that it matters not to members whether this website is continued to be maintained. We here feel that it is simply not worth it to continue to maintain the site if members do not take the time to appreciate and interact with it. We appologize for the action, but feel that at this time it is our only option. Farewell for now.

As previously announced, Mike Poole won the RROL Fed Pool again, making it three crowns in the events five years. The 2000 competition was the toughest yet, but Poole would tally 45 points to overtake Tonya Dodges' 42 pts and Laura Kearns' 41. Earlier on in the week Poole was quoted as saying that the competition was so fierce he feared he wouldn't finish in the top 5. His picks did the talking for him on saturday when the Saratoga Blue Streaks took both the boys and girls titles. What turned the competition ugly was St. Anthony's Charles Millieon, who smashed a course record, undermining most everyones pick for winning boys time. Poole escaped with only 1 point in that category, but had already accumulated enough from his other picks to take the sweatshirt home for the third time. Last years champ, Adam Rice, would walk away in 9th place. Poole's sweatshirt will be awarded to him in a special ceremony in Guilderland on November 22nd. We would like to thank all competitiors who took part in the event. We hope you stay in touch with the RROL all year long and have you back for next years competition.

As this years deadline for Fed Pool picks grows near, organizers are proclaiming it the largest field of participants in the competitions five year history. Two-time champion and last years runner-up Mike Poole is this years overwhelming favorite. It seems Poole has an uncanny ability to choose Fed Meet champions. Defending champion, Adam Rice, who shocked the field last year, is promising a repeat performance. However, girlfriend and fed pick advisor, Laura Kearns (who tied Rice in the competition before it went to the tie breaker), has vowed not to aid in Rice's picks this year. For those who didn't notice, Kearns was responsible for Rice's victory, since Rice is from Florida and knows little of NY X-C. Hungry competitors from last year, Anthony Canova, Chris Fekete and Mike Sinkevich, were not far behind the tie for first and cannot be overlooked in this years competition. New-comers in this years competition to be on the look-out for include: Joe Pienta, Tonya Dodge, Mike Jurczynski and Chris Castaldo.

Poole ran as hard as he could for Wagner College Homecoming King, following every rule in the competition manual, but he would have to settle for first prince (2nd place) by 5 votes. RR Members Ryan Tastor and Andy Rickert witnessed Pooles crowning during halftime of the football game and took part in some day-long "tailgating" festivities.

As alumni of the Guilderland Cross-Country program, we can't help but be proud of our 2000 boys team. Throughout the season they made their way up in the ranking to sit as the 6th best team in NYS Class A. Competing with the top two teams in the state at the Section II championship (Saratoga & Bethlehem), the boys placed 4th after a 9th ranked Shaker squeaked by on a 6th man decision. We wish them all the best in getting a bid for Fed's. Results can be seen at: armorytrack.com

The planets aligned and all Ramjet Runner members were present at UAlbany to partake in the annual Brunofest. Although the future of the event hung in the balance, there would be no doubt at the end of the night that Brunofest will live forever in infamy.
Highlights of the event include hymming, SID, Ramjet yelling at people and John Kane (pictured above). Below Jamie Rodriguez and Mike Brady bump heads over cross-country running.

The UAlbany X-C tradition known as "Brunofest" for over ten years will continue after much speculation that it would go under since last years poor showing. This years celebration has already mounted a list of appearences including, Mike Poole, Ryan Tastor, Chris Kellett, a slew of Wagner representatives, and some UAlbany alumni to be named later. Stay tuned for pictures and other info concerning the event.

The UAlbany X-C team competed at the Stanford X-C Invitational in Stanford, California. Jamie Rodriguez would finish first in the Open College division, running the 2nd fastest time of the day (behind Jonathan Riley) 24:54. Guilderland grads Matt Denyse and Jeff Brooks were the Danes 3rd & 4th men, in 66th place (27:37) and 80th (27:54) respectively. Although the results post Rickert finishing 66th, it was indeed Matt Denyse, Rickert out with IT friction syndrome indefinitely.

As depicted in the underground photograph, Jon Nieman was surprised with a dinner from his parents in which members Ryan Tastor and Andy Rickert surprised the "crap" out of Jon (okay, not at all). The members harassed the "Dakota Steakhouse" staff and enjoyed a nice meal together. Niemo assured us that New Years Eve plans are again in the making for Union College. Special thanks to the Niemans.

Ramjet Runners Ryan Tastor, Coach Bill Drake, Andrew Rickert & Chris Kellett
The weather held out for the 30th annual Guilderland invitational. The legendary Coach Drake was on hand to serve as honorary race director/starter. RR members Chris Kellett, Ryan Tastor and Andy Rickert took in some races along with a busload of fellow alumnus. The Dutchman boys took 2nd in the Bill Drake Championship race. It was great to see The Man again.

Staten Island played host to a variety of events over the weekend, beginning with the Wagner College Cross-Country Invitational. The Wagner Seahawks were paced behind Anthony Canova's fourth place finish to take 2nd place overall in the team competition. Afterward, however, the jamboree had just begun. The annual Pylefest then took place and legendary partying was displayed by all members of that same team. Former Seahawk standout Chris Fekete was allegedly sent to the hospital...to hear what really happened, please see Ears What Really Happened

Well, it looks as though the last of the Ramjet Runner's have returned to school, marking the end of summer 2000. This school year, however, is different from others in that it is the beginning of the end--of college at least. This is the senior year for all members of the RR. The RROL is far from over, however. Ramjet promises this year will be the finest ever with new feature articles, new members, and oh yes, the biggest RROL Fed Pool ever! Don't even think for a moment that graduation will mark the end of this phenomenon, the RROL will live on forever. Stay tuned...

For the fourth consecutive year, the Ramjet Runners took part in the annual Utica Boilermaker 15k, one of the finest road races in the country and the largest of it's kind. Although Ramjet, himself could not participate, he had the great fortune of spectating the event. Ramjet saw members Chris Kellett, Mike Poole and Ryan Tastor handle the course with ease and met up with the fellow members for the post-race festivities. Look for official results at:
