Fekete Blowing Up In Shoalin

Member Chris Fekete is having a hot summer, and it's not because of the heat waves we've been getting. The Seahawk, going into his senior year, has been running well, winning six consecutive fun runs at Clove Lakes. To top off his busy running schedule, Chris has also become a weekly comlumnist at the Staten Island Runner web site, with his entertaining "Feketeditorial". We applaud Chris for his strides this summer on the roads and on the web. We wish him well in what could be his final year at Wagner, but certainly not his last year running.

RAMJET RUNNER'S MAKE THEMSELVES KNOWN AT BOILERMAKER

15k Roadrace A Showcase for Singlets, First-timers, Fall Pledges, Seahawks, Ramjet Runner's

Utica, New York had never heard of the "Ramjet Runners" before this day in time. From now on, however, the name will bring a undeniable screeching ring to the people's ears. A posse of nine distinguished gentlemen, 6 of which are RR members, made a the trip together for the United State's Largest 15k. First-time Boilermaker runners secured the first three spots of the posse as Chris Fekete, was the first RR to cross the line in 79th place, with a blazing time of 52:35. His teammate at Wagner, Anthony Canova, was next in 129th (54:26). UAlbany junior, and possible fall pledge, Mike Kiernan was the next runner to finish of the posse in 157th (55:10). Ramjet himself, Andrew Rickert, struggled due to a recovering infected toe which, two weeks prior, caused him to cut his running schedule down to almost nothing. Even so, Rickert finished in 188th (55:57). Another first-timer and possible fall pledge, Brooklynite Thomas Hopkins, also of Wagner, was the posse's 5th finisher in 216th (56:35). Member Mike Poole, Wagner's fourth runner, finished next in 276th with a huge personal best, 57:46. The Ramjet Runner's were rounded out with the finishes of Jon Nieman, Ryan Tastor and the third possible fall pledge, Bill Bennett in 549th, 717th and 821st places respectively (62:01, 64:12 & 65:17). The Ramjet rampage didn't end there, however, the RR's ended up on stage at the post-race party where the thousands in the crowd were chanting "Ramjet" aloud on command of the band, "Nik & The Niceguys". To top it all off, RR'er Anthony Canova ended up with a picture on the cover of the local paper in his "RAMJET RUNNER" singlet. What a representation boyz, congratulations, to each and everyone of you. For complete results check out the

Section II 1,600m Record Falls

Shenendehowa Senior, Dan Tebbano, broke the Section II record at this years Colonie Relays in the premiere event; the 1,600m. But Tebbano didn't win, Saratoga Senior, Dylan Welsh did. We here at the RR can't help but mention this years feats completed by the Section II duo. Two-time State & Federation Cross-Country titles (Welsh), a 5th place Foot Locker Regional finish, not to mention 19th in the Nation Cross-Country (Tebbano), Milrose Miler's (1st & 4th, respectively), Indoor State Champions (mile and two-mile, respectively) and a State DMR Record-holder (Tebbano)...what's next? The soon-to-be Georgetown Hoyas, broke Miles Irish's 15 year old record of 4:10.2, by finishing 4:09.7 and 4:10.1 respectively. Truly fast kids!

2nd Annual Wagner Invitational A Birthday Bash

Poole Turns Out 800m PR!

Member Anthony Canova served as the honorary announcer for this years Wagner Track Invite, but it was o.k. by him since it WAS his 20th birthday. True, he might of preferred to run in it, but what better way to celebrate your day of birth, then by cheering your teammates on at a great track meet. And oh what a show did they put on...member Mike Poole turned out a huge PR in the 800m with a 9th place finish of 2:01.93. Poole proudly commented that he ran an even race, turning it on with 300m to go, a strategy he had never tried before. Member Chris Fekete also turned in a fine day, as he was 5th in the 5,000m in 15:56, to secure a solid finish by the Seahawks. Overall, the meet was a success, and the day was finished off with a huge birthday celebration. To view results go to the:

First Annual "Ramjet Runner" Convention Held In Staten Island

We here at the RR would like to everyone at Wagner College for showing us their hospitality and gracious support. Thank you to all members who attended.
