He was the one of the most popular person of the Turkish Cyprus cartoonists...

He was born in the year 1937 at Famagusta. He started drawing cartoons in 1953, when he was a student in "Namık Kemal Lycee" for the "Wall Newspaper" of the school...

He was sent away with two weeks punishment because of a profile caricature of his English language teacher he drew...

His cartoons were published in several magazines and newspapers like Halkın Sesi, Bozkurt, Times of Cyprus, Cyprus Mail, Akrep, Kıbrıs Postası, Kurtuluş, Ortam, Yeni Çag, Yeni Düzen, Esnafın Sesi and Avrupa...

He participated at various international exhibitions which took place in Turkey, Japan, Holland, England, Ukraina, Belgium and Iran. And his works were published in many catalogues...

Ramiz Gökçe published his first cartoon album in 1956...

He was a member of the Cyprus Turkish Cartoonist Association and the FECO. He organised his second personal cartoon exhibition in 1996, named "Once in fourty years" at the Municipal Art Gallery "Osman Gokçe" in Famagusta...

He was a dentist and one of the founding members of the Turkish Cypriot political party, CTP (Republican Turkish Party). He was the chairman to the Mez-Koop (Cooperative Bank of the Tradesmen in Famagusta). He was jury member in several cartoon contests which took place in Cyprus...

Here are some of the prizes he had won:
Special Jury's prize 1989, Theme: "Health" (The contest was organised by the Turkish Cypriot Cartoonists' Association and The Private Doctors' Association)

"Prize of Honour" 1996 Turkish Cypriot Cartoonists' Association.

Remembrance Prize" Turkey 1996. "International Ankara Cartoon Festival" Turkey.
1997 Near East University "Honour Prize" Cyprus (For his contribution to the Turkish Cypriot Art of Cartoon)

1998 International Golden Mouflon Cartoon Festival, Nicosia-Cyprus. "Special Golden Mouflon Humour Prize" (For his contribution to the Turkish Cypriot Art of Cartoon)

Ramiz Gokce died on 27th August 2001.
