Welcome to this website about Peripheral Nerve Conditions. Peripheral nerves are present in the limbs with central attachment to the spinal cord. They are therefore ''Peripheral'' to the spinal cord nerves.  

What is this website about?

We aim to  be a resource on conditions of the Peripheral nerves. We hope to educate patients, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, physicians and surgeons. These are obscure but not uncommon problems. We find patients with these conditions and their carers  would like more information about these conditions. They are often uninformed or wrongly educated about their problems. This sometimes sadly is the case with paramedical and even medical personnel.

Visitors with a sensitive predisposition are warned of this from the outset. 1. Obstetric Brachial Plexus (OBP) Injury : This condition also has the synonym of Erb's or Klumpke's palsy.

2. Adult Brachial Plexus Injury: High energy injury to the neck resulting in injury to the Brachial Plexus group of nerves to the shoulder, arm and hand.

3. Peripheral Nerve Injury: Includes injury to individual nerves like Ulnar nerve, Radial nerve, Median nerve, Axillary nerve, Sciatic nerve, Peroneal nerve, Tibial nerve and Femoral nerve etc.

4. Nerve Compression Syndromes: Includes Carpal Tunnel syndrome, Tarsal tunnel syndrome, Pyriformis syndrome, Anterior interosseous nerve compression etc

5. Peripheral nerve Tumours: Nerves and nerve sheaths can give rise to tumours both benign and malignant tumours.
