Reduce PVC or PVDC sticking problems of heating rollers
Problem
Blister packaging machines have aluminum heating rollers heated approximately to 170 degree C. Traditionally these aluminum rollers are coated with PTFE to provide non stick properties. When the PVC or PVDC film is heated, it sticks to the roller sometimes accidentally. This affects the packaging quality. The machine has to be stopped to clean the rollers. The stuck film is removed using a knife. The knife also removes some of the PTFE coating. This worsens the sticking problems.
Solution
Chemically formed ceramic coated alumium rollers have excellent non stick properties. Even if the hot PVD or PVDC film sticks accidentally, the ceramic coating does not get removed becasue it is very hard. The ceramic coating does not affect the heating characterisitcs as it has the same thermal conducitvity as the PTFE coating.
