Free medical assistance- It is given through medicine donations, wheelchairs, and subsidized treatments. Livelihood assistance is also given through donations of sewing machines and similar implements. These are example of their programs that are promoting social responsibility according to them. This time the paper will present some issues regarding the networks performance in terms of their service. These projects may be promotion or just a public exposure and tend to force the people to believe that they are good network and they performed their obligation as a mass media institution. B. Issues This paper will present some issues regarding the negative performance of GMA7 network as a mass media institution. These are the following: 1. Vulgar acts and language committed by TV show host on the program Star talk. 2. Alleged unfair attacks by news anchor against ABS-CBN, the networks opponent in mass media industry. 3. Taking video footage in the house without permission from the owner. 4. Commercial overloading. |

| These are four of many complains filed by the KBP against GMA7 network. The regulation according to KBP regarding commercial has a limit of 18-minute per hour. However, the GMA7 is fined the total amount it earned from advertisement shown beyond 18-minute per hour as it is written in Radio and Television code. The paper may say that GMA7 network overload advertisement for the profit maximizing. Another one is a former actress, victim of the video footage, said that being part of the media doesnt give them access to every nook and cranny of her home. Moreover, GMA7 network violate the bill of rights sec.2 written as the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures of whatever nature and for any purpose shall be inviolable. Next is vulgar acts and language committed on screen. It seems to be that GMA7 does not promote social justice. Lastly, the unfair attacks by news anchor against their opponent in industry (ABS-CBN). This time GMA7 destroys its image and its reputation by these complains. Prior to these issues GMA7 come to decide that they will withdraw their membership from KBP. This paper may enumerate these following reasons why GMA7 decide to withdraw from KBP: 1. To be able to overload without the regulation of KBP. 2. To be able to focus on maximizing profit without the concern of public interest. 3. To be able to deliver news by any manner and tone of voice. 4. To be able to lessen the issues against the company raise by KBP. PART VII Conclusion This terminal paper believes that CSR is a business contribution to sustainable development. The company in this case worries less on profit and is responsible instead. The paper has learned that some of the business practices perhaps misleadingly labeled charity as CSR. Corporate Social Responsibility is not charity. This paper strongly believes that GMA7 network does have CSR. The network uses CSR as a tool in promoting and improving the public image. However, the paper defines social justice as overall fairness of society. It is not a mere catalyst slogan to express concern for the plight of the poor and downtrodden. The aim of social justice is to ensure dignity, welfare and security of all people. Meanwhile, the CSR of GMA7 network does not provide or promote social justice. |
