Field Medical Pannier No1 (1943 pattern)
This particular pannier was made by Toy Time Toys Ltd. of Southport on the 17th September 1943, and the exterior was marked up for an FMP1 filled to the contents list specified in 1943.
It would appear that this pannier was never actually filled or issued, as there has never been a contents list label pasted to the inside of the lid.
This is the most common design of large pannier, having an upper section accessible via the top, and another, lower section which is only accessible by opening the lid and folding down the front panel. This lower section has a metal divider at the left-hand end.

This is as close as you will find to a brand-new pannier.
