| Trail 379 North Fork Grassy Top |
||||||||||
| According to the Forest Service Map for the Priest Lake Ranger DIstrict, this trail runs from US Forest Service Road 302 to Grassy Top Mountain (see note at bottom of page). It also connects with Trail 261, the Tillicum Creek Trail, and Trail 382, the High Rock Mountain Trail. The trail is only being maintained from the trailhead at Road 302 to a point about 1.5 miles from the traillhead. This is short of the intersection with Trails 261 and 382. |

| To access the trailhead, take Highway 57 north out ot Priest River to its terminus just north of Nordman, Idaho. Then take US Forest Service Road 302 north for about 8 miles to the trailhead. There is a marker on Road 302 for Trail 379. Road 302 is really an extension of Highway 57. It's a gravel road that often exhibits the typical character of such a Forest Service Road (e.g., vehicles tend to drift sideways). There are no rest room facilities at the trailhead; however, the Stagger Inn Campground, located a mile farther north on Road 302, has a vault toilet. Several primitive campsites are available between Road 302 and the point where Trail 379 crosses Continental Creek. |

| Note: If you look on the USGS Quadrangle for Helmer Mountain, you will find that this trail is marked as 382 from Road 302 to High Rock Mountain and Trail 379 takes off from Trail 382 just prior to High Rock Mountain and proceeds to Grassy Top Mountain. | ![]() |
