| These trails present more of a challange to the day hiker. For the most part the trails are not maintained. Furthermore, the trailheads are not well marked and finding a trailhead is often part of the challenge. Once on the trail, the hiker will often encounter situations where the trail splits and the hiker must use dead reckoning skills or map and compass skills to come to a decision as to which way to travel. I recommend carrying USGS Quadrangle Maps for the area as part of one's essential gear when hiking these trails. |
