Transmitter Building Blocks

Low power AM transmitters can usually be assembled from a few basic elements: an oscillator to generate the carrier wave, an RF amplifier to boost the carrier to a useful level, a modulator that fluctuates the power available to the RF amp in response to the audio signal, and a filter to remove any spurs or harmonics from the signal as it travels toward the antenna jack.

Our goal with this page is to assemble a collection of these basic building blocks that designers and hobbyists can refer to when they are sketching out an AM transmitter design. You can also get ideas from looking at the complete transmitter schematics that are available elsewhere on this website.
