The Creek

(Onion Creek)
creek
The Spring: usually much prettier than this, but even in a drought, the ferns and cedars show all of their grandness.  The gnarled tree roots add to the effect, as does the semi-clear water.
Home
creek again
Ahh...a nice cold dip in the creek will make anyone's day better.  It's like going to Baskin Robbins: no matter if you were in a bad mood to begin with, you always leave with a smile.  Unless, of course, you get swimmer's ear [I've been a victim many times & STILL love to swim here].  See how clear the water is?  It's such a shame it wasn't deeper, though, because then it would've been ideal for tubing.
and again, the creek
The creek is known for the many rock dams that hold pools of water all along its winding way.  Here you see Leslie & Kirsty playing in the pool behind one rock dam at The Spring.  Doesn't it look like fun?!?!
Kirsty, in the creek
Kirsty found one of the coldest (and deepest) spots in the creek.  It looks as though she found one of the cold springs that runs through the entire creek, keeping it "spring fed" almost all year long.  Looks really peaceful and inviting, doesn't it?
Leslie & Kirsty in the creek
Leslie & Kirsty take a break from swimming to pose for this picture.  I can tell from the looks on their faces that the little perch that live in the creek are heading their way.  But no fear, unaware reader, the perch only nibble on you & have an unsatiable hunger for bread & insect bites, and sometimes skin flakes.  *watches little 'mmmm' bubbles float up from the bottom of the creek, where the perch are bedding down for their afternoon nap*
