The 'mountain rappelling' story.

~winks~

Okay okay, it was only a thirty-five-foot tower,
but I
was gonna go rapel down a 100-foot-high
rock-bluff the next day, 'cept it rained...

                    Read about it

This was my introduction to the wonderful world of kayaking;
a four-day field trip; part of an Outdoor Skills/ Heritage Outdoor
Tourism program I took at Malaspina University-College.

...and I am Hooked for life. :-)

  How
ever, be I e'er compelled to tell that, at my pre-admission
interview I was told  I would not be allowed to participate
in that part of the program because, and I quote!, " You don't
have four fully-mobile limbs."  {{say WHAT?!!}}... Seems they
were concerned that I would not be able to control my vessel,
or paddle, or might inadvertently clock another student in
the noggin', or worse. See, I only have one hand. ~!!!~

Think about it! Would I really want to put anyone else OR
myself at risk? Not! I would have asked my
self to be excused from
that field trip if I thought for one second that that would'a been
the case. Point being, when a , a-hem!, "disabled" person
                        tells you they
can do something,
                   trying to
stop them is just plain SILLY!!!
