| November 26, 2002 Tuesday Great News! I found my journal! Ironically, last week I had a dream about finding it in a very obvious place and then last night I discovered it had fallen between a couple of boxes stacked in my bedroom. (I'm a very slow unpacker) So I am thrilled. At work I am training to work on a different team. It is somewhat nerve wracking but not as bad as I thought it would be. If it works out, when I am done training I may get a better schedule. Plus I will be far more knowledgable when it comes to computers, so that is nice. Tommorrow is my birthday. Some girlfriends of mine are taking me out to see some live music and cooking me some dinner. All the guys are staying at the apartment with the babies. I think that will be nice. Then I have Thursday off to spend Thanksgiving with my oldest buddy, Trina. She's very good at baking a turkey, so Quinn and I will be eating meat for the special occasion. mmmmm...turkey... |

| December 3, 2002 Tuesday By biological system had an extra special birthday gift for me this year....adult onset lactose intolerance! YIPPIE *sarcasm*! A very hard pill for a milkaholic like me to swallow. Even the pumkin pie on Thanksgiving made me sick. Ah well, atleast I know that this nagging illness I've been enduring the last 3 weeks isn't some kind of weird cancer or something and now that I'm avoiding dairy I feel quite better. Last night I watched 'The Importance of Being Ernest'. It was absolutely hilarious. It took me a bit to get used to the very sophistocated speech of the early 20th century upper crust but once I did I laughed my a** off. I must highly recommend it. Now a more serious topic..I just read about this latest project aimed at tracking consumer perchases and it's pretty freaky. Most likely not. Would it surprise you to hear that GE is a major producer of nuclear bombs and reactors? Possibly not. Would it surprise you if GE's ownership of NBC had any impact on the way the news is reported to the public? I hope not. Think about it. Hard. THIS is what deregulation and media consolidation bring us: the same company that profits from war, is the company that feeds us our news. I want for one moment to sit back and think about how "war news" is presented. Think about how it is marketed, and how every network has developed a memorable meme and logo for war. They've even devised...da da dum..a "jingle" or tune that plays in the background of our fear. War has become commercialized...it's a product they're trying to convince us we want. War will be very profitable for some in the American media. The Brown Herald thinks that most Americans probably know of NBC's unpleasant connection to weapons of mass destruction. I would venture to guess the Brown Herald is wrong. I'd bet the ranch that more than 90% of the people in the US are unaware that GE produces bombs and reactors. Think about it." Now consider this story that the media is convienently ignoring.. A bipartisan bill has been introduced that would revoke pResident bush's blank check for war and make it so the case has to be made before Congress again. A good idea when you consider their inablility to produce solid evidence of WMD. All the while, we've got North Korea over there going.."WoooHooo?!? HELLO! We've got nukes and ballistic missiles capable of striking the West Coast! Does anyone care!?!?" Well...seeing as how they don't have what we want (namely that black gooey stuff), no. We don't care so much. Never mind the fact that American Intelligence and British Intelligence are Pissed off that their reports being misquoted and their primary conclusions ignored. If Saddam has WMD, which he may yet, intelligence believes he would not use them, UNLESS PROVOKED. Jeez.. Call your congressmen and ask them to support the legislation repealing Public Law 107-243 introduced by Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Ron Paul (R-TX). PLEASE. |
