Ft. Jackson. 369th AG BN, Alpha Company, room 121 w/ 2 half wall partitions seperating 3 filled bunks from 4…A bit more privacy, but less than I hoped for…still in the barraks atmosphere. Word is 50/50 – start class next week or holdover status till Feb…Fingers crossed…Ppl here are kind enuff so far – seems a bit more relaxed…personal items – books, music ? …allowed. Weekend on pass due to Martin Luther King’s Birthday Monday…no wakeup on Sundays! Unlike BCT, we really get Sunday off.
It’s 2120 now, lights out at 2400 (!) Got to base
@ 1300 w/ Navarro & Inkelaar…they bunk on either side onf me now.
Spent last night after travel (sleep & smokes) downtown Columbia –
The Governor’s House Hotel a nice place & a big military discount.
$90 room to $40…Scoped the clubs & mall – Burger King. It was
Garcia, Heldenbrand, Ekholm, Navarro, Mendoza, Myself, & Inkelaar there
– couple six packs drunk & more smokes…We can drink here, but no smokes…probably
better anyway – I really oughta quit.
Time to workout…
Abs w/ Navarro the man who knows abs…great workout. Freshly showered now 2309.
Played pool for a bit w/ 1st Ink/Nav then Ink/Nav/Some female soldier – brunette chopped short hair, glasses, bout 5’4”, 125 – cute in a way…Bull shitted ‘bout herself though – her fiance/boyfriend Sgt. “Chris”, her excellence at pool that she readily disproved…now her age at 17 may be true, I dunno…but she was flirting w/ me like mad – even Navarro said so…we’ll see. I still don’t have her name – she asked mine & I countered by asking hers – stalemate.
So yeah it’s a co-ed barracks – 44 males – 53 females – down/upstairs respectively (I think…) Haven’t seen many of the woman from Alpha, but no two ways about it, woman far outnumber men here – lots of black & hispanic & butch women though…but still a good # of nice looking caucasians – not to be racial, but besides a pretty asain on occasion, that'’ the only thing can get my blood going. Got my picture w/ Olivia hanging on my "new" locker door...I forget my mirror pictures back at Fort Sill…DOH only picture I had of Sarah Lynn other than yearbook photos…sigh…
It’s home for at least 9 weeks: at first glance I didn’t
like it much, but it’s wearing itself in on me a little.
