0000 The witching hour. 2400-0100. I'm pulling fire guard duty all here by my lonesome. Got a good solid 4 hours sleep so far tonight--3 more to enjoy once I'm done here. 1449 days.

I am still overawed by how slack everything has been so far. Granted, this is only reception & i've grown aqccustomed to it all, but I imagine hardship and discipline instilling fright. So far I am unimpressed with military SOP...things get lost, delayed, fucked around. Ppl fail hardcore all the time due to lack of intelligence among other things like laziness. Incompetance across the boards.
I want to smoke a Pall Mall & I want to down some fucking booze...Actually the Pall Mall sounds not so great right now, nor does the booze...
ESL's were supposed to ship to McClellen AFB for ESL schooling, but of course, did not for unknown reasons...
GO #1) I will guard everythign within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.
GO #2) I will obey my special orders and perform all my duties in a military manner.
GO #3) I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, or anythign not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief.
I realized today, Napoleon went to an artillery base much like this one...Wonder what faction of the forces would hold his interest today? Cannons still? Airforce, Biological, Chemicla, Nuclear (ed note: reading Les Mis: I'd say now still artillery...)

Biggest news of the day, only 47 ship Thursday. The rest of us "Friday or the following Monday"...great...like I haven't heard that whole song and dance b4. Lucky if I leave by November...which of course would mean coming back after Xmas--which would be a problem both for me, and for the Army cuz they'd hafta pay, and I would have this long break I'd hafta exercise to keep up PT.

Waxed and buffed floors in the South Bay 1st and 2nd floor here at home -- make everythign look perty for the dignitaries.
Sent off a check today -- MBNA America, $100.00. It was damp from all the sweat...hopefully goes through OK.
