It's so true. Friends are people who know the song in your heart so well that they can sing it back to you when you are unable to sing yourself. Friends support you when you need support and watch your back while you stand alone when you need to be independent. Friends care for you and love you, because of who you were, who are are and who you will become. "Those who pass through our lives leave footprints in our souls." I, for one, will never try to erase those footprints. Every person that I have been friends with has affected me in some way, whether it be a change for the good or a change for the worse; either way, I will never forget my friends.
There are those who say that friendship should take no effort. There are those who say friendship takes a great amount of effort. For a time, I was a believe of that latter philosophy; I was sure that to make a friendship work, there was an essential give-and-take - and that the give-and-take took effort. I have come to realize that the answer lies somewhere in between. If by effort, you mean the effort to care and the effort to respect; The effort to love, cherish and appreciate, then a friendship requires a great deal of effort. However, I have come to believe that those things do not take conscious effort, and if a friendship is true, they will come naturally.
My friends are essential to who I am. I would not be the person that I am without my friends, nor would any of you be the same, had your friends not entered your life. Whether they be passing through or staying for a while, friends are important. I hope all my friends know how much they mean to me. "To love is an easy thing. It is in the admission of love that difficulty arises."
To all my friends...Sarah K, Ken, Mike B, Mike L, Denny, Dave, Anne C, Anna, Dan R, Nabeel, Taylor, JC, Laura D, Red, Drew, Nick, My Iparty cohorts, my junior class pals and my sophmore gals...I love you all.
