A NEW STORY: I'm working on a series of short stories; I have to prologue, which will be included at the beginning of each story. Click the link above to read it. THE CONCEPT AND THe CHARACTERS: The prologue introduces you to Janice, a newly independent 18 year old girl/woman, determined to survive. She is writing a journal entry, which I am using to introduce the audience to her character as well as the situation. The main plot of the story is this; Janice and her mother (Diane) argue one morning...it's the fight to top all fights, the straw that broke the camel's back. When Diane shouts for Janice to pack her bags, Angry, hurt, confused and somewhat immature, Janice does. For the duration of the story, she resides in a middle-class apartment with her semi-wealthy roomate, Renee. Diane doesn't insist that her daughter come back - it's a matter of pride as well as a hidden secret (what good is a book without secrets?). Renee acts as the silent observer and peacemaker, and I intend for her to be the glue that holds the story together. |
