Triggers
Triggers are the things that trigger your pain, memories, flashbacks, etc.  They can be many different things.  Some examples of triggers would be:

a.  certain smells
b.  certain colors
c.  places
d.  the way someone touches you
e.  time of day
f.  certain words, tones of voice, etc..

If you are married, it is important to communicate with your spouse if it is safe doing so.  He could help you when you do get triggered, or have flashbacks, etc...  A good support system is important in the healing process.


Write below the things that you are aware of that trigger you:

Memories

Working through memories is very painful, and you will experience many different emotions while working through them.  Below, write one of the memories that you have:

During abuse, a child cannot face their feelings.  Feelings of confusion, anger, fear, abandonment, etc.  It is very important to recognize how you felt during the time of abuse, as those feelings have never been dealt with and will need to be worked through.
